Give Me A Bear Market Any Day
As many of you know, I'm frequently fascinated with advertisements that are geared toward investors and traders. For one thing, I've frequently found them to be an excellent sentiment tell.
Far and away, most ads are structured to take advantage of the emotion of the moment, both greed and fear, and that's especially true at major turning points. For example, earlier this year when everyone thought the dollar was going to be virtually worthless and we saw a lot of ads promoting way to play on that trend, it marked a key turning point.
In recent weeks I've seen a number of ads that are structured to sell services and products for the bear market. Take this one for example:

I have to confess I really like the general message of this ad versus many I've been seeing lately - i.e. instead of running away from a bear market screaming in fear, disgust, or apathy, you run toward it looking for opportunities. I like that a lot. In fact, that's the way I approach every trading day right now. I do my best to tune out the noise and fear, and just focus on the next trade.
But, with that said, I have to also say that this is also a good sign that we're approaching a point that good things tend to happen for the market. In fact, the more bear market ads we see now, the better off we will be, so keep your eyes open for more. As we've seen in the past, once everyone is convinced that there's virtually no upside potential anymore, is usually when there is the most. I'm extremely confident this time won't be any different.
