A Quick Note Of Appreciation
This is just a quick note of appreciation to those who have linked to my website over the past quarter.
The vast majority of my readers find the website because of 1) searching for something investment or stock related at Google, 2) directly through word of mouth by those of who read the website, and 3) by referral links provided at other blogs. At least that's what my website statistics show.
Since I do nothing to promote, advertise, or market The Kirk Report in any way, I appreciate those who have linked to my website especially since I don't do link exchanges or quid pro quo "I'll link to my website, if you link to mine" sorts of arrangements. If I link to a website, it is because I personally like it and think other readers would find it helpful in some way and I never ever accept any benefit from anything I link to. In fact, in my link posts I often link to commentary and analysis that I don't necessarily agree with so that you can have a solid perspective of both sides of any major issue in the market.
With that said, I'm sure I do upset quite a few people who ask me to link to something they've written at their website especially when I later don't do it either because I forgot to do so or because I just didn't like it. In an average week I'd say I receive an average of at least a few dozen requests to do so and I'm sure I routinely make quite a few people mad when I don't later link to their article or website. In addition, I've become very selective in the number of websites I monitor daily as I concentrate my time and focus on trading and research as there just so much out there compared with just five years ago when I started this website.
When looking over my first quarter stats last weekend, it was nice to see that the vast majority of those who linked to The Kirk Report were other very good bloggers who I also read and also link to frequently. In fact, here are the top 25 websites that have sent the most amount of readers my way in the first quarter (starting with the most referrals at the top):
Finally, I continue to be amazed by the sheer amount of effort many of those people devote to their websites. I know from personal experience how time consuming it can be and if you have a favorite blog or two (here or in your own bookmarks and RSS feeds) please make sure to tell these people how much you appreciate the time and effort they put into sharing their thoughts, research, and opinions. I know I certainly do.
With the plethora of great resources now available, investors have no excuse to be more informed and skilled than ever before and that's a wonderful thing!
