Monthly Sector Performance Check

Sector PerformanceAs per the normal montly routine, it's time to take another sector performance check. Using Prophet's performance grid, it is always useful to take a big picture view of which sectors are showing some notable movements.

In my opinion, sectors showing notable improvement in February were health services, healthcare, long-term care, drug stores, drugs, computer based systems, telecom services, and office supplies. Sectors showing substantial deterioration were homebuilding, oil & gas, networking, publishing, and REITs. The most loved sectors were processing systems, trucks, airlines, lumber, consumer and health services, aluminum, and education. The most unloved sectors were beverages, chips, toy and hobby stores, specialty eateries, personal computers, electronic stores, manufactured housing, and mortgage investment.

Following this week's declines, I'm sure we're going to see notable changes in market allocation so it will very important to keep close tabs on any material changes in order to find clues on which sectors to concentrate our focus on in the coming weeks. A flight to safety should be expected on many different levels.
