Set For A Quiet Start

8_13Good morning. We're set for a quiet start following lackluster headlines. In focus are higher oil prices, M&A activity in the oil patch, a negative preannouncement from Tellabs (TLAB), and an upgrade for the tech space from UBS.

Premarket scans show buying interest for shares of SGEN, CPSL, ILSE, TSTC, LVLT, BBC, BRLC, SVNT, TIVO, STEM, INCY, AFFX, BBBY, MAMA, LFC, CHA, STJ, and WEL. Sellers are concentrated in shares of DVAX, TLAB, SCHN, MOLX, and MED.

While some are awaiting an economic outlook from Fed Vice Chairman Kohn at 12:45PM, no major economic reports are due out today. That's probably a good thing since good news is not being received well. I'll be back a little later with a couple of interesting posts. See you then.
