Loser Screens
Though most of my screens look for stocks that are showing leadership, have nice fundamentals, strong technicals, etc., I also routinely run what I call "loser screens."
I do negative screening for three main reasons - 1) they often highlight stocks that should be avoided over the short-term, 2) to help me identify short-selling situations, and 3) sometimes (but rarely) identify potential long-term "contrarian" setups. In running a couple of my loser scans this morning that basically look for poor technicals and fundamentals, the following 20 stocks arrived on the casualty list:

It is fairly simple to run your own loser stock screens. Just inverse the same characteristics you use for some of your own stock screens and see what comes up. I'm sure you'll find it both interesting and educational. Like everything else, approaching the market from various angles and alternate points of view is frequently rewarding.
